I know how to export a ged file but it DOES NOT pick up the in-laws parents names. How can you make it do that. I have had to go in and hand enter them. There must be another way. I am NOT EXPORTING my entire database.

Thank you. Bonnie

I guess you are trying to export a GEDCOM of selected people, Descendants with spouses and you don't get the parents of those spouses.

If there aren't too many, you can add selections as you select people.

First, go to tools and color code people,
select the same person and color all his descendants and their spouses one color (RED?)
Then do it again, only descendants without the spouses, color them GREEN (Christmas is comming up laugh.gif )

Now to export the GEDCOM, select the ancestor,
Mark his descendants and spouses,
go down the list, and select the ancestors of every green person, 2 generations
(I would click the Find button, -- Color code -- is green, then all you have to do is click the next button to advance, no need to do anything to the ones with no parents listed.)
