#89080 Can I easily export 5 generations of ancestors to GED?

Posted by n2ubp on 23 April 2018 - 01:14 PM in Discussion

Is there a way to easily export 5 or 6 generations of ancestors to a GED file?
All I found so far are options for "all" or select multiple individuals.

Thank you,
Steve

#87200 Family Search birth location changes in searh results?

Posted by n2ubp on 18 December 2017 - 10:17 AM in FamilySearch Family Tree

The FamilySearch Person Tools is displaying the standardized place name. If you view Henrich Anton Geisler on FamilySearch and click to Edit his birth fact you will find that longer place name listed as the standardized place name for the event.

So this is a default long place name for Hermsdorf.

It may not be accurate.

According to FamilySearch assistants on Facebook there are 30 different towns/villages named Hermsdorf.

#87185 Family Search birth location changes in searh results?

Posted by n2ubp on 16 December 2017 - 04:28 PM in FamilySearch Family Tree

Heinrich Anton Geisler 967X-PHQ,
his Father is Anton Geisler, L8P1-9SK per Heinrich's death certificate. Not sure if this is accurate but only source I have.

For Heinrich when I use the Roots Magic "Find Matches" feature the expected result is shown between the RM and FS records.
For Anton when I use the Roots Magic Advanced "Find Matches" feature Heinrich's 967X-PHQ record is listed, however the birthplace for Heinrich 967X-PHQ is filled out with more detailed information not supplied in either the RM of FS record. Was wondering where that additional information is coming from, since one of my issues with Heinrich is there are at least 20 different villages in Silesa, Prussia named Hermsdorf and I personally don't know which one it is?

I'd provide a screen shot of both situations but I'm not sure how to do this within the forum.

#83574 Generate files for a Website dropping generations from pedigree

Posted by n2ubp on 30 May 2017 - 04:45 PM in Discussion

Looks like there is a duplicate entry for Mary Victoria in the family group sheet for the family of Jens Jensen and Marie Louise.

Both entries have the same RM and Family Search id's.

Only way I have found to correct the problem is by detaching Mary Victoria from this family and then reattaching her,

which removes both entries for her in the family group sheet and then the add enters a single entry for her.

Thank you, Steve

#83561 Generate files for a Website dropping generations from pedigree

Posted by n2ubp on 30 May 2017 - 06:19 AM in Discussion

Using the "Generate files for a Website" option using "Rootsmagic 6 Style"  creates a pedigree chart that is missing multiple generations for at least one family line.

The chart goes from an ancestor living in the 1800's directly to ancestors in the 1500's that don't seem to be connected at all to that particular line.

Using the "Generate files for a Website" option using "Pre-Rootsmagic 6 Style" creates an accurate pedigree chart.

Trying to understand what I am doing wrong?

Thank you,

Steve

#83528 Batch update death dates for entires wihtout a death date?

Posted by n2ubp on 29 May 2017 - 06:13 AM in Discussion

During a lull in my research I worked with the process used to create a privatized pedigree web site.

I decided to privatize living people but noticed alot of ancestors without death dates were also privatized because they had no death date.

If they were alive today that would make them 200 - 300 years old!

Is there a way to batch update ancestor's records who are obviously dead so that they show up on a privatized GED or pedigree chart on a web site created by RootsMagic?
