Thanks Renee & Tom. The last comment about unmarking number of sets of parents to greater than zero nailed it. This is very helpful as a "group".
Below is the entire sequence that I use for others who might be interested in creating a group of "end of line" direct ancestors
Go to Groups
Select self in checkbox
Ancestors of Highlighted Person
(Increase number of generations)
OK (This creates a group consisting of all direct line ancestors in database
Clear People by Data Fields
Number of sets of parents - greater than - 0 (zero)
OK (You then get a notice of the number of people who have been "unmarked" or deleted from the group
Give Group A Name (I use Reb - End of Line - Ancestors), if I am the starting person
My properties shows I have 68,411 individuals; however, my next RIN number is 76,260. I have a lot of old deleted RIN numbers from various clean ups.
I don't want to create a GEDCOM export and create a new file as I use my existing RIN number for ID purposes. For instance, I list my media files according to person's RIN number. For instance, I am RIN 1and list my media files like this: 000001_Reverdy_Orrell_birth (etc). If I export to GEDCOM and create a new RM file, I believe I loose the current assigned numbers eventually, correct?
I thought that by running database tool / clean phantom records would free up those now unused numbers, but that isn't the case.
Any ideas on what to do?
It really isn't a major problem, but it is something I've been wondering about.
Excellent comments. It would be great if I could run a program which would create a Ref # fact for everyone in the database, copying their RIN number to that fact. But with close to 70,000 individuals, this is nothing I'm going to be able to do manually.
Additionally, I print the actual webpages in PDF format and attach the PDF as a media record for that person. That way if the website closes I still have all the info.
I also create PDFs on other items such as a castle, monastery, battle, cemetery, etc and attach as needed to various people.
I have quite a few PDF, jpg, etc media files, all stored in a single directory.
I have been inconsistent (shame on me!) in naming these over the years.
For instance, I might have named a PDF or JPG file, as follows

I would like to go back and make everything the same style; however, we talking about files being attached to several people.
Is there an easy way to do this without breaking all the media links?
Is there any way to sort the way an individual's facts are displayed?
Everything is sorted according to date, which is fine most of the time.
However on some people I have various other facts, including multiple versions of the same "fact" type of a person.
For instance, let's say I have 4 different Alt Name facts for a person. It would be helpful to be able to press the top of the FACTS column and have all entries sort alphabetically. With some people I might have 20 different "FACTS" listed. I would speed some things up.
The last few times I've run RM7 and tried to back up, I get an error that "the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process". I have gone in and "ended" of running processes that might be causing the problem, but I still have the error.
The only way I'm able to back up is to close the file, reboot the computer, then open up RM and backup the file.
