About 1990 I started on my quest to learn all I could about all of my ancestors. For 10 full years I was obsessed, and used many different programs. If I remember correctly, I tried Family Origins 4 and finally got to 7.0 and thought that to be the best and greatest. I had to put it aside for about 15 years and now that I've picked up again, I decided to continue with the same software "family". Parson's was great then, so I decided to try out RootsMagic 7.0. So far it's nearly as good as the old FO 7. I've been amazed at the amount of info I can find in today's world. I shy away from Ancestry but I've found Family Search to be fantastic. I've also seen many cases where people just copy and paste anything convenient. But when it's all said and done, whatever is most comfortable to a user is what to buy. Support is another issue to look at. I was glad that I had the foresight to email my old gedcom files to other family members years ago. With out that, I would have had to start from square 1 again.
