It couldn't hurt to do normal maintenance things too: repair disk permissions, run a utility program like Onyx, or MacKeeper, or MemoryKeeper, etc. too. Also if RM crashes see if you can copy the crash report, that might give more insight.

In Topic: Reunion GEDCOM import question

24 June 2018 - 10:18 AM

To revive the thread: with trial and error, I got better results by correcting bad Reunion GEDCOM tags (DESC), some things better by importing into RM via Heredis, and some things best via directly to RM from Reunion.

Jackson opened a support ticket for me so we could troubleshoot a while ago, but I have never been able to log in to support (can't get a password). Suggestions?

This is one example that serves to validate my practice of never uploading any information about living people to any web-based service, even if they promise to protect it.

Yes!

In Topic: Any news on RM 8 complete rewrite?

I do hope that getting it out the door takes precedence over it having a gazillion new features. As far as I'm concerned, having native support for both PC and Mac and having just a few other new features so that PC users will have reason to upgrade should be sufficient to get it out the door. Other good stuff could then come in 8.1, 8.2, etc.

Yes to all of this!

In Topic: RootsMagic on a Chromebook

23 June 2018 - 04:54 PM

I posted a file in the Facebook group of how to do it:

Some Chromebooks *can* run the RootsMagic Android app--mine does! How to see if yours works, and how to do it: First, check to see if your Chromebook is on the approved list.

Go here to see how to set up Android apps and see if yours would work: https://support.goog...r/7021273?hl=en

If yours is on the “yes it will but not yet” list (like mine was), and you are comfortable getting under the hood a bit and running the developer beta OS for your Chromebook, then follow these instructions first: http://www.digitaltr...n-a-chromebook/

Make sure that the rmgc file is in the RootsMagic app folder in your Dropbox account (not the backup file!). Enjoy!
