RM7 keeps locking up on MAC

10 February 2018 - 07:18 AM

I'm a new user to RM and am entering a family from scratch, not import.  RM7 keeps locking up when setting program in tray to go look at another site. (i.e., Mail, Wikipedia, etc.)  Yesterday it was locked so tight I could do nothing.  So I left it overnight to see if it would unsort it self, since I tried several methods of backing out of the error boxes.  Still there this a.m.  So I had to reboot the computer in order to use it.  This is very frustrating.

RM locks when leaving program for a look at Wikipedia

I'm a new user to RM and find that when I go to look for outside information, i.e. Wikipedia, I can't get back to RM as it locks up.  A blank white scree appears and I can't get rid of it to exit the program.  I and using a MAC and RM 7 for Mac.  I have to go to the Apple and try to get to the screen that lets me force quit RM.  That screen doesn't always come up in the beginning either.  It is getting aggravating.  What am I doing wrong?

Think of buying RootsMagic

10 November 2017 - 10:45 AM

Hi, I'm new to this forum and am looking for some info before I make the plunge.  I'm currently a TMG user looking to transfer over to a new program.  I have a nephew interesting in genealogy and I want to get him the easiest and best program for a beginner and the ease in transferring my data over to the same program to make working together easier.  I'm also looking at Legacy Family Tree.

I currently have two computers, a Windows and a Mac. (My nephew has a Windows PC) I prefer the Mac, and only use the Windows PC for the TMG program.  The Windows PC is about 3 years old, and I only bought it because the old one gave out, and I wanted to continue using the TMG program.  However, at the time, I did not want the word processor installed, as I would rely on the built in one in TMG.  Now my dilemma is:  Does RootsMagic have a built in word processor also, or is everything sourced to an external word processor, meaning the reports and narratives, etc.  I have a very large database, with between 25-30,000 names and a lot of narrative reports.
