In Topic: Birth Date not showing up

Well I just figured out the problem and can't believe I did not catch this last night.  I was going to delete him and re-enter his info so I was taking pictures of all the info so I could type sources and notes back in.  Well, I found I had 2 birth facts entered.  One with the DOB and one that only had the palce of birth which I had entered before I knew the date.  I deleted out the one fact and now I am good.  Pretty embarrassing but thought I would let folks know it was me that was the culprit.  Sorry but thanks for responding.

Make sure the birth date is formatted correctly in the Edit Person screen. If it is not formatted correctly there, it will not be shown at the top of the screen. One way to tell that it's not formatted correctly is that the box into which you are typing will be yellow instead of white.

Make sure that you are using the standard Birth fact and not some sort of alternate Birth fact. You probably would not create any sort of alternate Birth fact on your own, but sometimes they can enter your database via GEDCOM import.

Make sure that you actually do have a standard Birth fact and that RM is not interpreting a Christening date as a Birth date.

Run all the database tool in order - File->Database tools.... I don't think this is the problem, but the database tools should be run occasionally in any case.

Jerry, The date is entered correctly, standard birth fact is used, and I ran thru all the Tools.  Still have the issue.  It is really weird as when I generate a Family Group sheet the date of birth is there.  But if I generate a pedigree sheet only the date of death is there.  I can make him the Root person on the pedigree screen and only the date of death shows up.  I have been using Roots Magic going back to Family Origins and never seen this before.  I sent screen shots to Roots Magic with explanation and got a quick reply last night but it was like they only quickly read the issue and never looked at the screen shots.  I replied back to them and explained again and have not heard since.  My first thought was I entered something wrong but it is not the case.

If you make a 6 generation pedigree chart under reports, there are no birth or death dates or places on the right most column of ancestors [6th generation].  There is a physical space problem with no room.

On the main screen for pedigree, there is a selection for pedigree with choices of 5 or 6 generations.  If you have it set for 5 generations, everyone has a birth or death assuming that you have data entered.  If you have it set for 6 generations, the first three generations have dates.  The 4th, 5th, and 6th generations just have names. However, these comments do not precisely match your problem.

Try making your problem individual the first [left-most] person.  Did this solve your problem?

I know what you explained.  I am talking about in the Pedigree screen but the info section at the top of the screen.  Not in the Pedigree part.  The upper part of your screen.  Like when you highlight someone on your pedigree screen and then look at the top of the screen it gives their birth, marriage, death info.  The birth date does not show up.

I actually believe it should be 30 Sep 1786.  The 2nd option in ancestry used is called the 8870 option.  Also, per the below website I hand calculated it and also got the 30 Sep 1786 date.

I also got the same Sep 1786 result with RootsMagic and your end date/66 y 11 m 25 d
If your Y/M/D's are intended to ***INCLUDE DEATH DAY*** then it *SHOULD* be:

1 Oct 1786

I tried the 2nd option at Ancestry and it gives me 30 Sep 1786.  So which is right 1 Oct or 30 Sept??
