That will not work if you want to add a source and the information for the source is under the RM window. I look forward to when the underlying RM window can be moved.

In Topic: Please Unlock RM Windows

I just tried this. I opened the same database again while in RM, with the timeline view on one side. When double clicking on a marriage event in the timeline view, a new edit window opens. This can be moved, but neither the Timeline window nor the RootsMagic window underneath can be moved. They block the view of my browser window. Yes, I can click on the browser window to bring it forward, but often can't position it so I can see the relevant info in both RM and browser.

I am glad this is on the enhancement list.

In Topic: Event filter for GEDCOM export

12 October 2017 - 12:22 PM

For me, that would mean editing and unchecking about 80 fact types for a Gedcom export. Then I would have to re-edit and check those boxes again when I want a more inclusive Gedcom. As you say, quite laborious.

I would urge the developers to design a fact type filter that can be accessed from the file export page, not the fact type list page. The same filter could be accessible when creating HTML files, printing family group sheets, printing narrative reports or any other report that requires a selection of fact types in the report. The "Include when:" options could then be eliminated from the fact type list options.

As a former TMG user, I too fully support this request for true fact sharing.

In Topic: Treeshare and RootsMagic Fact Notes

09 September 2017 - 11:15 AM

If I make a change to a Fact Note in RootsMagic, then use Treeshare to transfer it to Ancestry, boxes appear next to many facts other than the one I changed. In every case, the number of characters in the Note field of Ancestry is smaller than the number of characters in the RootsMagic Note field. A comparison of the Ancestry Note with RootsMagic Note shows that Ancestry has stripped all carriage returns, line feeds, and perhaps other characters from the RootsMagic Note. A Note for a will, which I purposely separated into several paragraphs in RootsMagic, appears as a single long illegible line. This is definitely an Ancestry problem. If you Edit an Ancestry note to add carriage returns, they disappear immediately after you submit the change. The same issue occurs when entering carriage returns in fields on Ancestry's Lifestory page. Very frustrating.
