Citations - Kind quite get my head around this

04 June 2016 - 09:13 PM

I have lots of Birth Indexes. But I'm unsure of how to cite them. I'm trying to create a template for birth indexes, but do not know how to go about it?

Here is an example, that maybe someone could give me some instruction with.

Birth Index example:

First name(s) ELLEN
Last name COBURN
Birth year 1889
Birth quarter 2
Registration month -
Mother's last name -
District SALFORD
County Lancashire
Country England
Volume 8D
Page 20
Record set England & Wales births 1837-2006
Category Birth, Marriage & Death (Parish Registers)
Record collection Births & baptisms
Collections from United Kingdom

Import .ftmb file from FTM 2014

26 February 2016 - 05:35 PM

I see that RM7 will import .ftmb files from FTM 2006 and earlier, but what would happen if I tried import from FTM 2104

I don't want to try it, if the file becomes corrupt.

FTM 2014 Media Category vs RootsMagic 7 Tag Media

20 February 2016 - 07:17 PM

To assist me with sorting my media in FTM 2014, I could do a quick sort of media and old letters by the doing the following:

Attach Media Category Family Ball, Family Jones and Family Smith to any type of media, which would then allow me to quickly list media for each of those families.

Similarly with Old Letters, I would attach Media Category Old Letters Ball, Old Letters Jones and Old Letters Smith. This again would allow me to sort my family letters. This type of sorting makes it easy to find and work on information within the letters.

RM7 has Tag Media, but has only 8 types of Tags, so limits my for sorting capabilities.  Am I wrong or am I not using RM7 correctly?

Thank you

Listing of my recent changes to RootsMagic7 Database

19 February 2016 - 11:42 AM

Is there a way to produce a list of recent changes to my database?

I am a new user to RootsMagic7, having previously used FTM 2014. I propagated RM7 with my gedcom and added and changed some data in my RM 7 family tree. However, I need to re-install the gedcom from FTM 2014, but I would like to know what changed I have made to RM7 in the meantime?

Having checked the reports, I do not see one that will give me this information. Any suggestions?

Thank you

One Click Sorting of Facts, Date and Place

07 February 2016 - 06:09 PM

I'm new to RootsMagic7, having recently changed over from FTM 2014

In FTM 2014, I had the ability to click on the Fact, Date and Place header to sort them.

This way I could see alphabetically, all the Facts of a particular category listed together. Same with Date and Place.

Am I missing something in RM7, as each of the headers do not sort when clicked.

I've looked in the Help Menu, but can find nothing when I search.
