Thanks to all of you who responded.  I know a lot more now about what's in RM!

Is the syntax you've used something you can input, as you've written it, into Roots Magic, or is it a symbolic representation of the search facility I've used.  The one I've used is the one you find if you click on Reports, then you choose Custom Reports.

You're right.  I sorted on death place with non-blank places at the top, then I scrolled down looking for dates that were blank within this group.  I have a small enough file that this wasn't onerous.

Thank you for your ideas.  I didn't know about People View.  Using it I was able to achieve my goal.  Thanks!

I have one question though.  I don't understand this notation: Death>Exists>Is True?  I don't really need to understand it, inasmuch as I've achieved what I set out to do, but I'd be interested in knowing how to interpret it.

Thank you again!

In Topic: Relationship Chart - Default for Person 2

01 October 2018 - 10:19 AM

Until this facility exists, I found a work-around.  I created an alternate name for myself, with a blank surname, and a first name of AAAA- followed by my entire name.  This way the alternate name appears at the top of the person list, and it's easy to check off as "Person 2" when doing the relationship chart.  Not everyone will like it, but it works for me.
