TMG Import of Research Tasks/To Do List

02 December 2014 - 04:55 PM

When an Event in TMG (Fact in RM) has been tagged with a Research Task, these are currently imported as General To Do items even though they relate to the Principal of the Event. This means that they no longer appear as a To Do item for that person nor do they show the person's name on the To Do List. Please can this be looked at when updating the TMG Import as for me this is a major drawback in moving over to RootsMagic.

DataClean

26 November 2014 - 05:33 PM

I have just been looking at the facility to clean the data having recently imported from TMG. As a trial I had a look at the NameClean facility and tested "Wife shares husband's name". This has brought up a list of names, mainly surnames, many of which are repeated with the exception that all are followed by a different number. As far as I can see there is no way of examining the persons record directly from the DataClean screen so I have exited and the searched the Record Number using RootsmMagic Explorer. However this brings up a completely different name so I cannot decide whether the change is needed or not.

Being a newbie am I doing something wrong?

Birth and Death facts

18 October 2014 - 08:43 AM

I have owned the UK version of RM for a number of years but have not as yet taken the plunge to use it as my main database. Up to now I have used TMG and have got used to its idiosyncrasies but with its demise am now looking to change.

There are numerous occasions when I have found the birth or death registration without pinpointing the actual date and place so have used the registration date and district as the primary record. In TMG the Birth-Reg and Death-Reg tags are part of the Birth and Death Groups which mean that whatever tag you use within a group, and is marked as primary, it is used as the birth and death date in the equivalent of the People listing in RM.

However when importing these tags as RM facts they are not recognised as primary birth and death dates so my People listing is missing a lot of vital detail. Is there any way, other than going through all the instances of Birth Reg and Death Reg facts, of getting RM to recognise these as the recorded birth or death date?
