I have just imported my family database of 40000+ names from TMG into RM6.
I am aware that GEDCOM does not do a good job of exporting event-based tags. I had used the US Censuses quite extensively in TMG and assigned roles, which I know do not transfer.
I did export my Ancestry.com family tree into a GEDCOM and then import that into RM6. Some of the census data did transfer.
I am going to have to do quite a bit of editing of the new RM6 file, especially with regard to the Census. It seems I won't be able to use the role function of the "Facts".
My question: What is the best way of using the Censuses so that a Census fact will be included when I export from RM6 into GEDCOM?
An example: In the 1940 US Census, I appear as a grandson in the household of my grandfather. The persons of that household are: my grandfather, my grandmother, my father, my mother (daughter of the head of household), and I.
How do I enter the 1940 Census as a fact for each of the above and have it export from RM6?
I notice that the family file based on the GEDCOM from Ancestry.com has, for me, a Residence fact in 1940 (date is that of the Census), place, and under description, the relation to the head of the household.
Suggestions?
Thanks
