So I have imported my Legacy data into two RM7 data files using 2 methods:
1) Creating a GEDCOM within Legacy's export tool (this imports my Legacy stories and Find A Grave ID#s, but I have about 500 unmatched ancestors to FS even-though the FS ID#s exist)
2) Using RM7's import tool and selecting the Legacy data file (this give me 100% matching of my ancestors to FamilySearch, but no stories, etc.)
You mentioned above that the process of matching the 500 ancestors compared to copying/pasting many stories and over 800 Find A Grave ID#s would be the lesser of the 2 evils.
Question - Could I use the RM7 "Comparing Two RootsMagic Files" process to compare the 2 files and easily copy over the FS ID# from the #2 file above to the #1 file? Once copied, wouldn't the RM FS Central take over and match up the remaining unmatched ancestors that now have FS ID#'s?
Thanks Renee for your reply and insight. It didn't make sense tome either. I'm weighing the amount of time and effort between matching 500 people compared to manually copying/pasting stories, Find A Grave ID's, and FS ID#s. I'm leaning towards your RM matching abilities.
Thanks, this PDF is very helpful. I'm just wondering if there is much more in the way of new features, etc. since the book was published. I see where I can download a PDF version of the book. Would this have updates?
