I have WineSkin, which is a free way to install RootsMagic on your Mac. I feel it is superior to BootCamp because I do not have to reboot my computer constantly into Windows, and I keep all my files in one partition.
I have a youTube video that explains how to install RootsMagic on your Mac for Free!

If you purchased CrossOver you are entitled to free tech support from them to help you with the setup.

I have a tutorial on how to install RootsMagic on Mac and Linux
using FREE software. It works great and does not require you to
have a Windows CD.

I have a tutorial I created on how to install RootsMagic using Wineskin for FREE without having to have a Windows CD on the MAC without installing Windows with screenshots. I also have a link on how to install RootsMagic onto Ubuntu as well.

Please don't use CrossOvers, they are over charging you,

Here is a tutorial that shows you how to do it using FREE software. I have a tutorial that I created as part of my computer science Internet Programming Class that explains this with screenshots from my MacBook without installing Windows or buying anything. I also have instructions for Linux.

Hi, Jillaine

There have been problems off and on with RM locking up when trying to use a non-LDS user name and password to access NewFamilySearch.

For quite a while, RM couldn't fix it until LDS changed their API. I don't know if it is locking up again in the latest version of RM on a PC or Mac due to a repeat of that problem.

I use a PC but don't have a LDS member user and password for NewFamilySearch so I don't try to sign into it and won't until the LDS finally releases access to non-LDS members.

Renee had this to say on an old topic on the NewFamilySearch board. Perhaps this will be of some assistance.

Another suggestion I have is to go to Tools>File Options>FamilySearch and check the box "Support FamilySearch under CrossOver Mac". This will use a different link to access NFS. You don't have to be using a Mac computer to use it. We are testing if this is a better connection for everyone to use.
Please report back your findings.

No one ever reported back on any findings, at least not on the boards. :)

The label for the checkbox in RM is now "Use secondary access method".
