family search log on

04 May 2011 - 07:04 AM

How do I log on to family search? I went to Family Search.org but could not find where to regester. Is it part of the Mormans? Do I have to regester with their group? If so can I use it without contacting the Mormans?

Customise death sentance

03 May 2011 - 02:21 AM

I am Trying to change the death sentence
[Person] Died < [Desc]>< [Date]>< [person:Age]>< [PlaceDetails]>< [Place]>.
I have changed it to:-

The death of [Person] was registered < [Desc]>< [Date]>< [person:Age]>< [PlaceDetails]>< [Place]>.
However this now reads:-
The death of Mary was Registered in December quarter 1900 at the age of 33 in the District of Milton Kent
I have tried putting "The" between in and December but in keeps moving to before in...

But on the Narrative it says:-
The death of she was registered in Dec Q 1900 at the age of 33 in the district of Milton Kent

Ideally I would have liked it to say:-
His/her Death was registered in the December quarter 1900 in the etc...

have tried using :His:Her as per the crib sheet but have been unsuccessful.

Keeping births, death , baptism and burial in order

01 May 2011 - 01:55 AM

I have a baby that was baptised, and buried on the same day according to the church register. Date 7 June 1864 at St Mary's Church. When entering as a fact the burial is automatically entered before the baptism. As only "Birth" and "Death" are printed on the family tree, the tree is left blank. To put in "Birth" as 7 June 1864 and leave place blank it lists Birth, Death, Burial, correctly, as soon as Place of birth is entered it has Birth, Burial, Baptism. Add "Death" = Baptism, Death ,Birth, Burial. Add Place of death = Birth, Burial, Baptism, Death.

How can I get them in the right order?

source templates

To get rid of all the superfluous punctuation I am rewriting all the sources in Free form. Am I storing up problems for myself in Future?

What use is mapping?
Why is it that if can't find a road it gives a completely wrong town or even country. For instance 11 Moor Street North, Rainham Kent is shown in London, 34 Chaple Street, East Stonehouse, Devon, is also shown in London and 50 The Brooke Chatham Kent is in another place all together. Looks like as if it has moved somewhere on the continent. Yet Chapel St, Stonehouse, Devon still exists even though it has been swallowed up by Plymouth. Google maps found it OK. The same with The Brook Chatham ( no need for Kent) although No50 does not exist.( thank goodness) All towns change over the years but most are still on the current maps!.
