Tom,
Thanks for your interest and your suggestion. Have you upgraded to RM5 yet? If so, how is it working for you? Did you have any problems that had to be fixed? Would really like to know.
Thanks.

Laura,
Well, many thanks for checking that out for me. That sounds like a deal to me!

A gedcom must be used to import information from a RM5 database file back into RM4.
If there is room on the CD, just send your son the RM4 database.

Laura, I am confused by your two above sentences. I would be importing from RM4 to RM5, not vice versa.
I am trying not to deal with a GEDCOM. I understand it loses a lot of information.
And, please explain the second sentence above..."if there is room, etc."
And, after seeing all the "bugs" now coming in on RM5, I plan to wait a LONG time before I upgrade to RM5.
Thanks.

Thanks, Tom. That sounds doable. Just trying to get some ideas on how this would work. I think I will probably get RM tech support on the line when I do this, though.

Why can't I BACKUP my RM4 to a CD, put this CD in his computer and go to his RM5 and do a File-Restore (to his file name, of course)?
