Thanks everyone,
In response to each suggestion/comment;
1. I had recently done a "Fix Broken Links" as my previous computer had died and my media files were in different folders (by surname). For some unknown reason, I had a fair number of broken links so I "fixed them" and made sure there weren't any broken ones before the backup.
2. I know I had duplicate files in other folders on a backup drive - especially since I last some other photos during the computer crash I had earlier.
3. I noticed on my laptop (which had the "restored" file) that some of the (2) and (3) extensions seemed to be the ones linked to my sources.
4. I believe I may have used "restore" when I first added RootsMagic to my new computer (several months ago) - I don't remember the exact procedure but I do know that my files are (or should have been) in individual folders by families (as I mentioned above).
At this point, I took notes of changes that needed to be made in my data while I was gone and added them, manually, to my file on my desktop. What do I need to do know to fix this situation? I'm still using my original file on my desktop. Until this is fixed, I really can't use backup and restore to use my data across different computers. Of course, the easiest solution would be for Rootsmagic to allow us to read/write data on the cloud that can be accessed from different devices (hint, hint).
