Timestamp From Iceland

25 May 2014 - 02:22 PM

When I post to these RootsMagic Discussion Fora, my post is given a timestamp with the time in Iceland, rather than with Greenwich Time or Hawaii Standard Time, from which I post.

Is this because the groups are managed and responded to from Iceland, perhaps from Reykjavik?

Kinship Lists

20 May 2014 - 02:43 PM

Here's a feature I'll bet many RM6 users may be unaware of.

Kinship Lists:

Reports>Print A Report>Kinship List

Whoever designed that one should get a Gold Star and a Big, Fat Bonus.

Kinship List for everyone in the database related to the chosen person.

Very neat little feature.

Bravo Zulu.

Record Numbers & Reference Numbers

19 May 2014 - 03:23 PM

Are Record Numbers "reassigned" when a user of RM6 makes deletions of individuals in the database and perhaps "holes" develop?  When the user runs Database Tools are all those "holes" filled in with formerly used Record Numbers?

Same question for Reference Numbers.

How can the user know if the "holes" have indeed been filled in with recycled numbers?

RootsMagic App Relationship Calculator Non-Functional

01 May 2014 - 07:30 AM

The RootsMagic App Relationship Calculator Is Non-Functional.

It can't even recognize the relationship between fathers and sons or brothers and sisters.

This needs to be fixed ASAP.

One of RM's principal competitors, Legacy 8, does not appear to have an app for Apple devices yet.

So, a sound business decision for RM is to steal a march on Legacy by persuading thousands of serious genealogical players to move their databases to Apple devices ASAP -- and use the RM App.

Currently, the built-in Legacy 8 Relationship Calculator is far more powerful than the one in RootsMagic 6 AND the Relationship Calculator in the RM App for Apple devices is non-functional.

Let's Go, RootsMagic!

RootsMagic Ap Slow To Load

28 April 2014 - 01:25 AM

I'm using the RootsMagic ap on both my iPad Air and my iPhone 5s.

My rgmc file is 28,661 KB.  It's not loading cleanly and quickly.  I get a message that the file has been downloaded and find that's not really so.  It takes another 120 seconds or so to load properly.

Is the rgmc file simply too large for the RM ap.

If so, do you plan to fix that in future versions, so we can use large databases with this ap?

Thank you.
