Alfred, following up no our discussion. I could send the wall chart to the printer and it looked great. Unfortunately, that did not allow for me to route it through photoshop to add fancy border, additional names, etc. However, I found the answer and am posting here in case someone else has the same problem. I printed it to a PDF file. Worked like a charm. I can now open the file in photo shop and do any manipulations necessary.

It was your response re: the printer that put me on the right track though, so once again, thank you for taking the time to respond. I would never have thought to try printing directly from RMChart.

I've used Roots Magic for many years, and still find the charts rather clumsy to use, when compared with some other program(me)s.
There are four suggestions I would like to make:
(1) Show the printer page size bounds on the screen by default.
(2) Automatic positioning of the boxes to avoid the page bounds.
(3) Better control over the data to be displayed in the boxes, particularly the text colours, so that chosen data items can be made to stand out.
(4) Clicking on the box should take you to the Roots Magic Record to allow editing, which in turn should be shown in real time on the chart. Bit of a challenge, but what a big improvement that would be, and, I hate to say it, but I found this very useful in A.N.Other programme.
How I love my iMac, and how I hate having to use Windows, just for Roots Magic now. It makes Roots Magic so much more complex and costly than it first appears. Yes, I know, but a man can hope.

To this I would add
5. Allow for exporting full resolution images in charts. Currently, images that are exported are scaled down 256 color thumbs. The ability to export a chart to jpg format was the main reason I switched to RM. Now I'm thinking I should have just stayed with FTM.
6. Allow for exporting to PDF in addition to the other formats.

Try printing a single page from your Wall chart, or a very small wall chart of one or two generations.
I think you will see that the printed output is much better than the screen view of the photos.
A copy or thumbnail representation is used on the screen while a scaled down version of the original is sent to the printer.

Alfred; thanks for the response. I tried what you said and it worked. My problem however, is that I need to be able to export the image to a file type that I can open in Photoshop. When I export as a jpeg or any of the other options, it exports the thumbnail and not the original image. I can print a 2 generation chart from RM Chart on my Epson printer and it looks great but if I export it to a jpeg, it looks terrible.

It would be nice to have an easy way to produce a poster sized family group sheet directly from RM4.

I know you can produce a descendant Chart with a single generation and fool around with what to include and not include. It's not the same thing.

Not sure if you received a reply to this or not but how big do you want to print? I can print a 13x19 directly from RM.

You know, I think this would be an easy fix to impliment. Since we can already select "all descendants and their spouses" to drag and drop, it shouldn't be too hard to have a "delete" function for "all descendants and their spouses." I had to do the select all, deselect, export, import route last year and a delete function would be much easier.
