Curious Dates

It is rather curious that this forum thinks people became member of it in 04.

Multiple Relationships Fact and Flagged in Views

08 December 2008 - 02:30 PM

brother & sister are also father in law/ daughter in law
mother & son are also brother in law/ sister in law

This is sometimes the tip of the iceberg. There needs to be a multiple relationships fact with multiple data sets inside it...showing the additional relationships a person has to the children being viewed in that family view. Then there needs to be a Multiple Relationships flag appearing in the family view so that you are immediately made aware that there have been some raccoons in the woodshed...several of them. This gets way more complex than having natural parents and adoptive parents...but includes some of that too.

Just kidding around here, but you get the idea. There is a need for better handling of multiple relationships.

Funeral Fact

20 November 2008 - 05:13 PM

It would be nice to have a funeral fact. Often enough, the death is in one place, the funeral in a second, and the burial in yet another. All of these places may contain vital information not available at the others.

Unnecessary Question on Add Child

05 November 2008 - 11:05 PM

When adding a child, there is a nice feature which asks if you want to consider an existing name while adding a new child. However, the criteria for asking the question need to be added to so that it won't ask me if I want to use the child's parent as the child added to that parent. Although in such a case, the question is apparently being asked because the child has no specific period-identifying data, it should be clear that (for instance) a child being added to a parent whose birth year is 1779, is not a person with the same name whose birth year is 1779.

Different Backgrounds for Each Database

03 November 2008 - 10:21 PM

It would be helpful if the background could be setup so that all databases use the default background unless you set one to a non-default background. This would help me to avoid entering information in the wrong database when working with two, etc. I would like to turn the background red (STOP) to tell me not to use that window for entering data.
