"Family Origins" error

26 January 2008 - 03:27 PM

Ok I'm learning a lot since converting to Vista, but I ran a multimedia report to correct errors in photo file locations. I have been able to resolve all but two, both the same problem:
filename not found in C:\Program Files\Family Origins\(file name.jpg)

I have not used "Family Origins" for at least two computers now. I tried changing the location to the correct one, and it does find the proper photo file. HOWEVER, the error message on subsequent reports remains the same! The only thing a bit unique was that in each case the (family group) photo was used on two individuals.

I removed the photos from both people and the error message in the report remains the same, pointing to a non-existant directory. The photo displays looks normal, no "can't find" display. I think I have a reports ghost!
Thanks for any help

THU files

26 January 2008 - 01:21 PM

I have a lot of photos in the DB, many copied from way back in the original program. Are the THU files still used for anything, or can I delete them?? I tried deleting just one, and it didn't seem to have any obvious effect, but I'd rather hear what they are used for before I do any mass deleting.
Thanks

Database repair?

25 January 2008 - 08:45 PM

running vista. This database had been working but was VERY slow responding. Now loading the database, after considerable time got a message indicating bad database. I renamed the file so I could bypass the default load. I was able to access a different database without problems, so seems like the program is intact. I tried a restore from a few days ago and the program just spins (like it was working) but was really not responding. I stopped the program, and started again hoping to try something else (like a different restore file) but the program starts up seems to just continue trying to restore. The spinning icon went on for more than 40 minutes. I can't do anything with it at this point except kill it. Renaming the restore file does not help.
Any suggestions???
Thanks
