CountyCheck List - Souce of Data

22 August 2013 - 05:01 PM

Would like to know a little more about how CountyCheck sources the comparison information for generation of the report content.
What data base is being used and how it interrelates the dates of a governmental jurisdiction into the report results.
I keep getting a incorrect result in the report which appears to reverse a 'created' date and a 'eliminated' date.
Specific example is
Event Date in my data base: "abt Sep 1852 in Oatmeal, Burnet, Texas, United States"
Result from CountryCheck List: "Error: Burnet was eliminated on 27 June 1842." and then a list of almost every county in Texas as a suggestion.
Burnet County, Texas was created in 1852 and still exists today. The unincorporated of Oatmeal has been in existences continuously since before 1852. So I'm not understanding how to interperate the results generated by CountryCheck.
Any background and details on this particular function/report to better understand what is being created would be great. Thanks, Ed

How do you Privatize a Fact so default is Private

18 July 2013 - 02:04 PM

Is there a way to privatize a class of facts so the default is 'Private"? Would like to be able to set every instance of LDS facts to a default of private so when the output report options are set not to include private facts they will be held out of the report or file output. Is there any way to accomplish this in a setting rather than going through a file an finding every instance of the fact type and changing the setting manually? In this case the inquiry is about LDS facts only but the concept would apply to any need to privatize a whole group of facts.

RootsMagic Forums and Internet Explorer 10

11 July 2013 - 11:38 AM

What has changed at the RootsMagic Forums?
Was always able to use Internet Explorer browser to interact with the site. The last couple of times I access the Forums using IE 10 the search turns up a responses as always but when I attempt to go to a response link in the returned results I get a "This page can't be displayed" message.
I can now access the Forums using Chrome, which I don't want to do. I really don't want to be required have a diversity of web browsers on my computer just be able to access sites. (Last time I looked IE browsers still have over 50% of the user market share.)
