In Topic: Sorting of Nordic characters

02 November 2010 - 05:07 PM

Both in place list and peoples names the Nordic characters , and are sorted wrong. I thougt this was handled by Unicode, but is being treated as a, is sorted like o and (the last letter in the Norwegian alphabet) is sorted equal to a.

Should this be correct with Unicode, or is it something I have to live with?

I am having the same problem with Scandinavian umlauts on RM4. I had no problem with them on RM3. I can't use Roots Magic Explorer to find names - and I have about 60,000 names that use umlauts - and more. I have reported this problem several months ago, and keep looking at all the updates to see if the problem is fixed.

In Topic: Double spouses, single in name list

23 June 2010 - 12:09 PM

Data from FO, not used for long time. In name list, A B and C. Not a double in
the list for A B and C. Did an Ahnentafel for A. Ahnentafel had BB and CC in
second tier. Looked and each spouse had two (2). Looked at spouse list and each
had BB and CC. Of course no merge. Unlinked one spouse and children vanished.

How does this problem get solved without tearning out and reentry for the screwed
up family?

I have the same problem. When I originally entered data I didn't have a marriage date and left it blank. Later when I added the date, the record now shows that the husband and wife are married twice - with the same record numbers, so I am not able to eliminate the duplicate marriage. This has happened several times and I don't know how to correct it.
