I'd like to print a report that contains information entered in the "Details File #" box on the "Source details" screen but I can't figue out any way of doing this. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Tonyt, there is no way to get that information to appear in a report from RM.

You'll likely have to resort to a SQLite query. If you're unfamiliar with how to do so, someone here might be able to write one for you if they have time.

For a bit of background on SQLite queries of the RM4 database, you can try here:

Hi,

Thanks for the replies - I was coming to the conclusion that that might be the case, which is a shame. It does seem odd that the input field is available but the field is not available in the custom report - seems a little pointless to have it in the first place. Perhaps RM needs to look at this.

Thanks again I'll have look at the SQL as suggested.

Singularly or a compilation?
How do you envision the report being laid out?

I noticed when you do a Narrative Report, that the end notes have the Detail text information in them. If you transfer the Narrative report to a word processing package you could print the endnote, by themselves. Just a thought. :)

You can search for items using a particular source detail file #. Search> Person list> Find - by Source - Detail File # - contains. But, it won't tell you what source for that person matches. Tell me a little more about where you would like this report to be. The Source List Report will let you "Print all sources in database by"... source file#. It would appear natural to make an option to print by Detail file #. But, I can't envision how that would print.

Thank you all for your replies. The narrative report goes some way to giving me what I am looking for by directing me to my hard copy of the source (I use a numbering system such as CEN01/xxx for a 1901 census sheet). It would be an advantage to be able to select the source detail ref # in a custom report.

Thanks again

I have added this as an enhancement request in our tracking system.

Thanks Renee - could you also ask to have it added to the endnotes in the FGS
