RootsMagic offers free online classes or "webinars" to our users. Please visit http://www.rootsmagic.com/webinars/ for a list of upcoming webinars. Click on a webinar title from the list for more information or to register. You can watch or download past webinars at the bottom of the page.

I've noticed that there are tutorials on New Family Search and RM. However, non-LDS members don't have access to the New Family Search. Any ideas if/when New Family Search will be available to the public?

It was going to be the end of last year (2010). FamilySearch is in the processing of redesigning NFS before it is released to the world. LDS members are their beta-testers, and the redesign hasn't even been released to them. No date given on its projected release to the world.

From within RM4, my access which is a non Mormon researcher to the beta one does not work. But if I go to it outside of RM4 I am able to get in. I have had access since they started creating a new one. You can download a gedcom from there to use if you so want to. Same way as you did in the original familysearch.org.

Genealogy:
"I work on genealogy only on days that end in "Y"." [Grin!!!]
from www.GenealogyDaily.com.
"Documentation....The hardest part of genealogy"
"Genealogy is like Hide & Seek: They Hide & I Seek!"
" Genealogists: People helping people.....that's what it's all about!"

Using FO and RM since FO2.0

I can tell we are talking about two different websites. New FamilySearch (NFS) does not have a gedcom feature. Classic FamilySearch.org does. The logins are different. In RootsMagic WebSearch for FamilySearch.org you will find the classic FamilySearch website found at www.familysearch.org. Everyone can have access to classic FamilySearch.org.

The NFS features in RM are found in either FamilySearch Central or a tree icon at the end of a person's name in the pedigree or family view. The website it uses is http://new.familysearch.org and it is currently only available to members of the LDS Church. It should be available to everyone by the end of this year.
