In shopping for a new PC, It looks as though 32 bit operating systems are being phased out. Will RM v4 run on a 64 bit system?

I have RM version 3.2.6 working fine on my Dell Insipron - Vista Home Premium X64.

I would note that it works best when installed in a folder OTHER than the default. Alfred has some installation guidance for Vista installs somewhere on the Forum...

User since Family Origins 2.0, Now using RM 7.5...

It's probably good to know either way, but does this issue relate to RM3 or RM4? The forum is RM3, but the original post seems to indicate RM4.

Romer, I am not very familiar with using the forum and did not know that it pertained only to RM3. I currently run RM3 and have purchased the RM4 Upgrade which I probably won't install until I purchase a new PC.

wiskey, no problem -- I just wanted to make sure that we were responding to the relevant version of RootsMagic about which you were inquiring. It sounds as though you were wondering about RM4.

When you go to http://www.rootsmagic.com/forums, you have the choice to post in several forums. RootsMagic 3 is one, and RootsMagic 4 with three subforums (Discussion, Issues, Wish List) is another. You can just post in the most relevant one, including several others located there.

I've had Vista Home Premium 64-bit almost a year--my 11-year-old computer was about to die.

I've used RM3 on it all that time and RM4 since a week after it was released. At one point I asked tech support if a problem I was having in RM4 (that only a few other people said they experienced) could be because of 64-bit Vista. The reply was that RM does support 64-bit Vista.
