It appears that some people entered in my database, who I know are gone, are marked living when I do a listing or chart.  Is there an easy way to search for these people to be able to uncheck the living box?

You can create a group of everyone Living and work through that.  There isn't a way to mark people private so they will still appear on lists and charts.

How do I create a group?

If you are slightly inclined technically, see

Wish I was more so.  Looked at that and I can see me causing big problems.  I just need to pay better attention when entering data and make sure I uncheck the box when I know the person has died but do not have a death date.

If I'm understanding your question:

1. Click the magnifying glass icon. The search page opens.

2. Click "Find". Select "Living Flag" and "Is True" Then click "OK"

3. The program will find the first person with a set Living flag. To find the next, just click "Next"

I'm so paranoid about publishing information about living people that I use a "belt and suspenders" method for marking people as "Living". In addition to the single "Living Flag" I have a custom, private "Flags" fact. Every living person, excluding famous, (e.g. Prince Charles, George Bush) are marked with an "L" in the Flags fact as well as having the "Living Flag" set. I do occasional searches for conflicts between these two flags.
