What has happened to RM8?

Every thing seems to have gone very quiet

I don't know what other genealogy conferences might have been coming up after RootsTech where RM would have had a presence. But I'm sure any such conferences would have been cancelled or postponed already. So the only other possibility for additional information about RM8 is what the company might post online. But doing so is time consuming, and they surely are more interested in working on getting RM8 ready to ship than they are posting online about it. That is as it should be.

Bruce came up for air to give us the latest video. He just didn't have time for a blog article too. Most conferences have been canceled or are still in discussion on being canceled. Like most of us he's not going anywhere for a while.

And 6 months later, no change. Please, please update! Mac OS Big Sur does not allow any 32-bit apps to run.

RootsMagic doesn't support beta versions of OS. You run it at your own risk. Codeweaver already addressed the issue with 32-bit with Catalina. The CrossOver wrapper in RM7 already runs on 64-bit. So it's not something new they need to address with Big Sur. This upgrade will be very similar to what was needed going from High Sierra to Mojave. Don't panic, when its ready to come out of beta Codeweavers will make sure the RM7 wrapper is compatible. Right now Big Sur is still a moving target, but not even close to what happened with Catalina.

Hi Renee,

I just updated my Mac to Catalina.  Do I understand that the RM7 wrapper includes allowing my RM app to work on Catalina?  When I try to access RM I get the 32bit message. Do I need to just update the RM7 wrapper?

Thanks for any advice.  If I can't use RM with Catalina, I'll roll back my OS.

Renee answered that in the reply immediately before yours.

The current version of RootsMagic works just fine under Catalina.

You need to follow these instructions to update.

Thanks very much.  I found the YouTube video and uninstalled/reinstalled on Catalina.

Thank you,
