What does a blue box with a cross thru it next to a name mean?  I have looked all over to find out what it means and I checked my entries for that person and they are correct.  It is also not alphabetized with all the rest.  it is the very 1st on on the list with only the 1st name, but the last name is actually in the file.  I don't understand why or what is the problem  Can anyone help?

That icon indicates that entry is an Alternate Name.

I use Alternate Names extensively, recording every variation of a person's name that I uncover in research. Other users seem to dislike using Alternate Names.

If you click on the [Options] button in the sidebar Index, you can control whether the Alternate Names are displayed.

I've used alternate a lot.  One suggestion several years ago was to create an Alternate with the females married name.
