When adding an individual to the database the forenames and surname are in low case (except for first letter of course). When they show up in the Family View the SURNAMES are capitalized. However when I generate a narrative report the index person FORENAME(S) and SURNAME are all uppercase but I  get a mix of names with Uppercase Surname and either uppercase or lower case forename (except first letter). This is especially evident in child lists. For example I get:

1. John Henry SMITH

2. ANDREW JAMES SMITH

3. MICHAEL JASON SMITH

4. Ann Agnes SMITH

The spouses name could be either Janet Jane HOUST0N or JANET JANE HOUSTON.

Has anyone experienced this?

Is there a way to make a name all uppercase, other than making it all uppercase during the initial "add a person"?

I just replied to the ticket you sent in with this.

When the box "Display surnames uppercase" is check under Tools>File Options>General it will force all names in the surname field to uppercase, including in reports.

If the given name is being forced then I suspect it was either manually added all in upper case, or the full name was added in the surname name field for the person.

The best thing to do is turn off "Display surnames uppercase" so you can check the person and see how it manually may have been entered.

Found the problem. I had inadvertently removed the formatting code "Upper " from the "Person". I had [person] rather than [person:Upper] in the Birth fact sentence template.
