I have one tree/database containing both my Paternal and Maternal family (containing approx1500 people). I was thinking of maybe spitting into two separate trees - is this a good and idea and how is it best done in roots 7 please. Thanks you.

If you search these forums for keywords like "single tree" and "separate trees" you'll get a variety of opinions. I prefer all of my data in a single RM database, while other users prefer to use multiple smaller databases. There is no single "right" approach, although each researcher will have their preference. This is a well-discussed topic.
