The other day, I realized that I had two people by the same name (with different RIN).  One was the father of the other, but they weren't connected.

I selected the one person and meant to add him as the son of the other; however, I wasn't careful and added him back in as his own son.

Doesn't RM do any type of RIN check or name check?

It seems like a warning should come up that "YOU ARE TRYING TO ADD THIS PERSON IN AS THEIR OWN CHILD/PARENT"

RM doesn't have that type of check. I just don't think it happens to often. Usually when someone is adding a link to an existing person they know which person they want to add. If you were adding them as a new person we do have an option for it to check if it matches someone already in the database. If you have Problem Alerts enabled it should show you there is an issue with the relationship.

Problem alerts are on.  Can they put in an edit that will keep it from happening?

Thanks for all your help!

Are you referring to linking a person as their own relative? Yes, that is on the enhancement request list.
