Items in the scrap book do not appear sequentially. I've tried renaming the files so they list in sequence in Explorer, also changing and/or removing the captions and descriptions. I want them to appear by year. Some do, but my changes don't seem to have any effect.

Help > Index > Media properties says:

3.

Date – Enter a date when the photograph was taken or audio or video was recorded. This could be used to sort the media items

Help > Index > Media > rearrange says:

To rearrange the order of the media items in an album:

1.

Open the Media album –

a.

From the Edit Person dialog, click in the Media column with a check mark beside a person, spouse (family), parents (family), or fact, or click to highlight any Person, Spouse Parent or Fact row, and click on the Media button in the Edit pane.

b.

From the Edit Person dialog, highlight a Fact, and click on the Place list button beside the Place field or the Place Details list button beside the PlaceDetails field in the Edit pane. Highlight a place and click on the Edit button, then click "Place media" button or "Place details media" button.

c.

From the Edit Person dialog, click in the Sources column with a check mark beside a person, spouse (family), parents (family), or fact, or click on any Person, Spouse Parent or Fact row, and click on the Sources button in the Edit pane. From the Edit Source window, click "More, Source media" or "More, Details media".

2.

From the Media Album window, click the Tools button, then select "Rearrange media items" from the menu that appears.

3.

You can arrange the order of media in one of 3 ways:

a.

Use your mouse to highlight the item you want to move and drag the item to the desired location before releasing the mouse button.

b.

Click the "Move up" or "Move down" buttons to change the media item's position.

4.

Click OK to save the new order, or Cancel to close the without saving any changes.

What's missing from above is that there is a "Sort by date" button, the 3rd way. Each media item has a Date field in its Media Properties - that is the date on which it sorts. But this only affects the order of multiple items in the same album. A Scrapbook report for a Person comprises a person album, one or more spouse (family) albums, a parent (family) album, one or more fact/event albums. The order among the albums is fixed (event albums are chronological by event date). Only the order within an album can be modified by the Rearrange Media tool.

Media management is not RM's strongest suit.

I'll say. It has it's points but it can drive you cuckoo. I had overlooked the 'Date' field in Properties, I was concentrating on the Caption since that is what shows in the Gallery. It's working now. I entered and sorted the Date field. I don't get the Family Album in the  Person Report but that's OK. I can work that out.

Thanks.
