I know the competition (cough ftm cough) has an option to see the area in the file where said place is located alond with a map. I found this nice because i could edit the persons place in one go and anyone else linked to it (marriage etc) woild this be an option for us as well?

Go to Lists - Place List and highlight the place name you want to explore.

Using the buttons at the top of the screen:

You can [Edit] the place name.

You can [Merge] multiple entries together to resolve spelling or other differences.

You can view an [Online map]

You can [GeoCode]

What do you mean by "placement within project" ?

If you highlight a place in the list, the press the [Print] button, you get a list of oll people.events for that place.

Number one no net.

Whether competitor or RM these all depend on an online connection.

Go to Tools>Mapping, by default you will have your list of Places in the left pane, selecting any that are geocoded will show them on the embedded map. The dropdown top left can be changed to people and then selecting a person any event places for that person will be plotted on the embedded map with supporting information, this included Place Details.

The right hand pane is not static, it only appears as a pop-up when you hover over a push pin.

Greater integration has been wished for within a single UI with embedded map also showing event associations, I understand those are on the enhancement list.

Thats the issue then (chough ftm cough) in its place edit pulls up the places on the left map and people on the right net or no net [if no net map is blank] then you can click say cemetery, halifax, ns, canada and it pulls up the people this affects. Then you can edit by place or by person.

I know I have wished for the associations (people as you refer) these are stored within the database and not dependent on being online, the map is as you rightly state.

I remain very hopeful that the place management gets a work over for the next version, at present Ancestry sync seems to be taking up development time.
