My hard disk is full of files with various file extensions.  I don't know whether they are Rootsmagic files or older versions files. I need help to know what they are for.

1. rmg

2. rmgc

3. mrgb

4. LST  How do I read this file

If I have a later file with that extension can I delete the older file of the same name?

1. Old RootsMagic file format

2. Current Rootsmagic file format. began w RM4, modified some w RM6 and can be read w RM6 or 7

3. RootsMagic backup format. Created every time you do File>Backup or creat Backup on exiting RM. Must be restored using File>Restore

4. Error file created when importing a GEDCOM. Can open using Notepad. Tells what  was not imported from the GEDCOM because the contents did not conform to standards.

Are you looking for a Family Reunion Organizer file, since you posted in this forum?

There are 36+ files that make up a Family Reunion Organizer file. The FRD file extension is on the database, but you need all the other files in order for it to open. The backup for Family Reunion Organizer is a ZIP file.

If your posted in the wrong forum I can move this thread.
