Since people could be adopted, or have their names legally changed, like for adoptees or gender reassignment people, their birth name and maybe surname and gender will be different from birth then either current or death. How are we handling this? For instance, I am a 4x cancer survivor so I legally changed my name, (not due to marriage or divorce) to my new first name, Breya, meaning miracle. My mother legally changed her whole name. My youngest son, I changed his whole name after the adoption went through.
And although I don't anyone personally, some people switch genders after being born, so is there a way to put birth first name, birth last name, birth gender, and then for current or death first name, last name and gender? Otherwise, its going to be a nighmare years from now.
Also, will RootsMagic search on variable last names? I had a relative that during WWI, his last name was spelled one way, WWII another, land records one way, and his will spelled it three different ways.
Last but not least, can we sort on say year of birth, year of death, or location?
Sorry I'm new.
Thank you
