RootsMagic 7 does not let you control the order in which witnesses to or sharers of a principal's event are reported in narrative reports through the [OtherPersons] sentence variable (and others) nor in the display screen. It does allow you to change the order of children and spouses. What is surprising is that the underlying database structure that supports reordering children and spouses has also existed for witnesses since RM4. Moreover, the reports and displays act on it. The only thing missing is the control which should be on the Wish List.
One can use a SQLite editor to manually set the witness order for an event. The WitnessTable.WitnessOrder field for a given EventID can be given an integer value other than the default of 0. That could be tedious but any order can be set.
A Facebook user wanted to sort all the relatives of a person who witnessed a big family reunion event by their relationship distance. I developed a script that does that by consanguinity, sub sorted by name. Absent a relationship, it sorts by name.
