I know how to rename my database from the file menu. I just wondered why, once saved under the new name, the file size is 2638KB rather than the 2123KB it was only seconds before.

I just tested this and the file size stayed exactly that same. Maybe your comparing the stats to different files before and after.

I think you are correct. Although the facility is called 'Rename', given that it asks one to type a new name it must actually rename the old database rather than preserve it and create a freshly named file which is what I thought would happen. (It was the appearance of the windows save dialogue which confused me)

You may have clicked on File>Copy because Rename won't create a new database, it will just rename it.
