Comments on the Rootsweb FTM page indicate that there will not be any more updates to this product.  I know that I dropped it way back in the DOS days when my limited database of a few hundred individuals would not work and Family Origins worked just fine.

This would appear to be a good opportunity for converts from FTM to RootsMagic.

I also dropped FTM early days of computers to go to Family Origins. For the same reason that John says and also we were limited as to the number of children, number of sources for each fact and siblings we could add. So glad to have changed.

We have a special website setup for FTM users moving to RootsMagic. They can use either link.

http://www.rootsmagic.com/ftm/ or http://www.FTMUpgrade.com

Sad that RootsMagic is preying on the confused and angry masses.   Given that:

1) the current version of FTM will continue to work indefinitely, and 2) the current version of RM will not "sync" with Ancestry Member Trees (the biggest gripe), there is no compelling reason for anyone to switch to RM.

Actually, Legacy Family Tree is also offering a special to FTM usrs who WANT or DESIRE to switch.  It's a shame that there are those who see this as preying on folks who apparently are being viewed as poor lost souls.

And I've noticed over the years that savvy businsses are always on the lookout for ways to expand their user base .... sure beats the alternative of going out of business!
