Is there a way to view the Source Record Number assigned by RootsMagic without exporting the source to a GEDCOM first?

I can view the person record number but I don't see how to do the same thing for a source.

I think you would need to explain more spoecifically which number you refer to, Template ID, Source Number as it would be exported in gedcom?

Keeping ones customers and their important views at a distance is never a good approach

You can examine the SourceID column in the SourceTable table of a RootsMagic database separately with an SQLite-aware utility such as:
SQLiteStudio http://sqlitestudio....qlitestudio.pl/
SQLitespeed http://www.rifin.co.za/software/sqlc/
DB Browser for SQLite http://sqlitebrowser.org
(there are many others)
