Hi,

I have a situation where two lines have the same person.  This 1600-1700 New England.  How do I get the same person and their ancestors to show up on both trees, but not enter as a different person?

Thanks,

Put both trees into the same database and merge the two instances of the common person.

This is no problem for RM. Two of my genealogy test cases are GEDCOMs of the Ptolemy dynasty of Egypt (lot of incest) and the family of  Oedipus (a whole lot of incest).

You can use Add>Person (Individual, Spouse, Parent or Child) and instead of adding a new person click the button "Select Existing Person". It will bring up the RootsMagic Explorer so you can select the person that is already in the database and use them.
