Maybe RootsMagic 7 addresses these issue but I rather doubt it.
- RM generates no Name or Place Index for a batch of Individual Summaries or for Custom Reports whether or not included in a Reports > Publisher Book.
- Custom Reports do not honour the "Display surnames in upper case" option under Tools > File Options whereas standard reports do.
As a workaround for the lack of indexing, it is expeditious to use a Concordance file with Microsoft Word's Automark feature to create an Index in the RootsMagic RTF report. While a custom report may be used to generate a Concordance file, it cannot work on the main report if surnames have been capitalized.
So, on the very day that a RootsMagic upgrade has been released that might obviate the needed workaround, I developed a SQLite query to create a Concordance table that can work with the surname capitalized RootsMagic report. The query and the full procedure are described at Reports - Concordances for Indexes.
