In the Master Source window for books, could you add ISBN and Library of Congress number fields under Publish Date ?  Although these might be considered Repository Call Numbers, because they are so ubiquitous and are printed on the Publication Page of virtually every book, it would make it a lot easier to find in a library and/or on the WWW.  These fields could be made optional with a "More" button.  (FWIW, even though Evidence Explained doesn't address ISBN's, it has one.)

We probably won't do this. Simply because you can copy any source template and add those additional fields you want.

That makes a lot of sense.

However, there is a deeper problem that could and should be fixed. Having chosen a source template for a particular Master Source, you are stuck with that particular source template forever. If you are using a copy of one of the built-in templates or if you are using a template you developed from scratch, that's not so bad because the source template can be edited. But if you are using a built-in source template and need to edit the template, you are stuck. The only way out is to recreate the Master Source from scratch, including all its data and more importantly, including all its citations. If at the time you are creating a Master Source you remember to use a copy of a built-in tempate, you are fine. But it's easy to forget. And it's even easy not to know that using a copy is a good thing. Therefore, it should be possible after creating a Master Source to change the template from an existing built-in template to a copy of that same template so the template can be edited.
