I have posted a little utility which will be of interest to:
- emigres from The Master Genealogist and other software from which RootsMagic does not do direct import
- those uploading and downloading GEDCOMs from Ancestry.com
- those dismayed to discover that RootsMagic itself cannot import Descriptions for events beyond 100 characters even from its own GEDCOM exports and drag'n'drop processes
For more info and to download it, visit GEDCOM Pre-Import Tweaker.
Import the original GEDCOM file to one new database and the tweaked file to another then compare their respective .LST files having the same database filename. The .LST files list most of the problems (not all) that RootsMagic had on importing. You can look up the reported line numbers in the GEDCOM file using a text editor. And compare some selected people in both databases and in the originating software to see if it had some beneficial result for your database.
