I have an old directory from what I thought was PAF around 1995, and I can't figure out how to import the data. I am wondering if the files are corrupted or just too old. Are these extensions from PAF, and if not, then what software created them?

ABER.DOC
ALPHA.DAT
ALPHA2.DAT
ALPHA2S.DAT
INDIV2.DAT
IRINS2.DAT
IRINS2S.DAT
MARR2.DAT
NAMADD2.DAT
NAME2.DAT
NCAMP.LST
NOTES2.DAT
REPTITL2.DAT

Thanks

PAF version 2 used 6 required files:

INDIV2.DAT
MARR2.DAT
NAME2.DAT
NAMEADD2.DAT
NOTES2.DAT
REPTITL2.DAT

So yes, that's what you have. I don't believe RootsMagic's direct import of PAF files extends to PAF v2- someone else will have to answer that. You may have to find a copy of PAF version 3 or 4 and let it update your v2 files. As I recall, there were no changes to file structure between versions 3 & 4. RootsMagic will easily import PAF v3 and higher (it is a single file, with the *.paf extension).

Thanks. I was able to import the files just now. I think I had been trying to import directly from a .zip file, and RM couldn't find the file I thought I was directing it to. Some of the files were dated in 1990, most in 1992.

Now I am curious if any information might not be imported from PAF. I was delighted to find that notes did come through.
