Where do you want to open it, Family Origins or RoofsMagic?

A backup file for either Family Origins or RootsMagic file is just a zip file of the database. For Family Origins, the zip file will contain all the different files that make up a Family Origins database.

Use whatever zip program you have on your computer to unzip the backup file.

Watch the MovingYour PAF Data into RootsMagic on YouTube, RootsMagicTV. The process of importing and converting a Family Origins database file is the same as importing and converting a PAF database file except you check Family Origins (version 4 or later) on the Import file screen.

The following was overheard at a recent high society party...
"My ancestry goes all the way back to Alexander the Great," said one lady. She then turned to a second woman and asked, "How far does your family go back?"
"I don't know," was the reply. "All of our records were lost in the flood."
