I'm new to RootsMagic having moved from PAF, so please bear with me :)
I find that after I add a Baptism or Christening fact to an individual, sometimes the year is given in the Index but often it is not.
I need the birth year to be given in the Index to find, for example, the correct William amongst many Williams.
I've started an exercise to add the Birth fact to every individual to ensure that the year is given in the Index.
Should I have to do this?
Thanking you for your replies,
Allan.

On the Sidebar Index, choose Options and check Show birth year.

On many screens and reports, the Christen fact date will be shown if there isn't a birth date. It is not shown on the Sidebar Index in place of a birth year.

A Baptism fact is not used as a replacement for the Birth fact.

If you do a CTRL-F, the RootsMagic Explorer comes up and that has more options for searches.

There is also the main, People view where you can add columns of different facts and sort them by clicking on the column header.
