What ultimately this says is that we want RootsMagic to support our choice of the punctuation style around/within quotations. That covers personal preference, locale independence, target readership. What it delivers now is right for many, wrong for others.

Pending the fulfillment of this wish in RootsMagic (I'm not holding my breath), here is a SQLite query that changes all or most of the built-in source template sentence templates having quotation marks to 'UK' or 'logical' convention:

Source Templates - Set Quotation Punctuation to 'UK' or 'Logical' Placement
Most of the built-in source templates have the comma or period separating a quotation from the rest of a Footnote, Short Footnote or Bibliography sentence (or ending the sentence with a quotation) inside the quotation marks. This is known as 'US' style or convention. 'UK' or 'logical' convention places them outside the quotation. This query attempts to find all such instances and move them to the 'UK' position.
