I'm a new users (with in the last 30 days).
I would like to make a custom event for county creation dates or other event dates that are not tied to just one individual and be able to see them in the timeline. As far as I can tell the only way to accomplish this is to make an event for a person then share that event with others. Any thoughts about this?

Other than adding an event to every person, I think you are right. Watch out for shared events if you export your data to other software and want these county events to come out okay - probably won't. The individual event should be okay. However, it's unfortunate that, within RM, there is as yet no copy fact/paste to person or paste to group feature to expedite the process. If you are willing to work outside the box, read Copy Fact to Group for an external tool.
