I have recently encountered a problem with a Family Group sheet (RM v5.0.4.1), which generates masses of 'continued' pages for the person for whom the sheet is being created, but displays no data content on these pages.

For example, this page:

Father Isaac Henry PARSONAGE
Mother
Children
Isaac Henry PARSONAGE (continued) (continued)

Is followed by this page:

Father Isaac Henry PARSONAGE
Mother
Children
Isaac Henry PARSONAGE (continued) (continued) (continued)

This sequence - of adding an extra '(continued)' - repeats for over 250 pages, and ultimately completes the Family Group sheet as expected.

The only observation is the presence of a 'Miscellaneous' field which contains around 2000 characters of free text and which appears on the first normal page after the sequence of repeated '(continued)' pages.

Any suggestions for a fix would be much appreciated.

Dave.

If the 2000 chars are in the Description field, try reducing that to 100 and move the other 1900 to a Note. Just a thought. Also, try the File > Database tools.

Tom - many thanks.

The problem of transferring the 'excessive' text to a note is that it isn't visible in a Family Group sheet. Interestingly, an 'Individual Summary' report doesn't suffer from the repeated '(continued)' problem and prints the full text as expected.

In the Report Settings dialog, check the box beside "Print Notes" along with its options as to placement.

The other possibility is that this is a different manifestation of an old bug that arises from very many or very long footnotes. Changing to endnotes is a workaround, at the loss of the convenience of footnotes. Alternatively, don't include Source and Citation Comments and Research Notes when setting the options for Source footnotes.
